Spain and Russia were locked at 1-1 at full-time in their World Cup last-16 clash in Moscow. The second-half was no different than the first half as Spain continued their possession with the ball. But Russia were able to dig deep in their reserves to carve out some opportunities to score but they lacked finishing. Earlier, in the 12th minute when Spain got an early lead through a Russia own goal by Sergey Ignashevich. Following this, Spain went on the backfoot and kept the ball passing and dominate possession. However, Russia kept the pressure and pierced the Spanish defence whenever they got an opportunity. Pique's handball in the 40th minute gave Russia a penalty.
