TVS Apache-based BMW 310 recalled for potential frame damage in the US.

TVS Apache-based BMW 310 recalled for potential frame damage in the US.

BMW India has successfully launched the TVS-made G310R and G310GS, priced from Rs 3.78 lakh ($5,479) and Rs 4.35 lakh ($6,305). Both bikes are manufactured in India, by TVS Motor Company.
Both the BMW’s are based on the same platform as the TVS Apache 310, which was launched in India in December 2017.

Made in India and exported to the world, the BMW 310 twins have now been recalled in the US.

As per NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), all the BMW G310R and G310GS motorcycles sold in the US have been recalled. All units were manufactured in India by TVS Motor Company.

BMW Motorrad has revealed that a total of 2,379 models are being recalled after a report from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that the bikes could suffer damage over extensive use of side stand. The recall is set to commence on 7th August.

Owners across the US are being contacted to bring in their BMW G310R and BMW G310GS for installation of new side stand which will be done free of cost at company service centres.

If the frame is already damaged, a new frame will be installed on the bikes. The affected bikes were manufactured from OCT 12, 2016 to MAY 19, 2018.

The two new BMW G310 twins are powered by a 313cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine offering 34 bhp power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The G310R competes with the KTM 390 Duke and Bajaj Dominar 400 while the BMW G310 GS will compete against Kawasaki Versys X300 and soon to be launched KTM 390 Adventure. Take a look at the detailed recall report by NHTSA below.
