BMW G 310R & G 310GS customer deliveries: Timeline REVEALED.
Starting this weekend, BMW Motorrad dealers across India will begin delivering the brand’s recently launched cheapest motorcycles – the G 310R and the G 310GS.
Bookings for both motorcycles had begun over a month ago and BMW dealers are said to be sitting on over 1,000 bookings. BMW Motorrad launched both motorcycles last week, with the G 310R getting a 2.99 lakh rupee price tag while the G 310GS sat much higher, with a 3.49 lakh rupee price tag.
Both motorcycles are fully built in India, by TVS Motors – BMW Motorrad’s global partner for small capacity motorcycles.
A BMW Motorrad spokesperson said,
The deliveries for the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS will begin in the next ten days.
Despite sharing their engines, gearboxes and most cycle parts with the TVS Apache RR 310, both BMW bikes are priced at significant premiums. This is because of BMW wanting to capitalize on its badge, which is known for high-end vehicles – both on two wheels and four.
Also, there’s a theory that says that BMW Motorrad has a limited service capacity in India and the premium pricing is to ensure that sales don’t shoot through the roof, and result in a situation where service centers can’t cope. BMW Motorrad seems to be striving for great after sales, which is perhaps why it’s trying to limit sales volumes.
Coming to the BMW G 310R and G 310GS’ specifications, both motorcycles share the 312cc, reverse inclined four stroke single cylinder engine with the TVS Apache RR 310.

This motor makes 34 Bhp-28 Nm on both bikes but their ECUs are said to be tuned for less urgent power delivery compared to that on the TVS Apache RR 310.
This is to make sure these motorcycles suit street riding more than track riding. Dual channel ABS is standard on both bikes which get upside down front forks and a monoshock rear.
However, the suspension tune on the G 310GS is softer, and more travel to suit adventure riding. Styling too is different with the G 310R being a street naked, and the G 310GS being an on-off road bike.
