Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 vs Mi Pad 3.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 vs Mi Pad 3.

The new Mi Pad 4 is a big step-up from its predecessor, and we tell you in what way.

The tablet industry, once flourishing, has narrowed down to a just a handful of players, led by the Apple iPad range.

However, the Android tablet industry continues to power on, with a few manufacturers including Samsung, Lenovo and Xiaomi continuing development and production. Speaking of which, Xiaomi’s latest product in the tablet space is the Mi Pad 4.

The successor to the Mi Pad 3 that was launched last year, the Mi Pad 4 comes with big changes that bring the tablet line up to date.

We go into the details to find out just what’s different between the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 and the Mi Pad 3, and why the latest device is worth an update. Do note though, the Mi Pad 4 isn’t available in India just yet, and we don’t have firm word on when it will launch.

Screen

While the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 came with a 7.9-inch 1536×2048 (4:3) screen, the Mi Pad 4 sports a slightly more modern aspect ratio. With an 8-inch 1920×1200-pixel screen, the tablet sports a 16:10 screen aspect ratio, which is slightly larger and taller than the retro 4:3 ratio that older tablets sport. In terms of screen type, both tablets have IPS LCD screens.

Specifications

The big differences in the two tablets are here, with the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 sporting the newer and more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. You also get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, along with a smaller 3GB RAM / 32GB storage option as well. The higher variant of the device also comes with LTE connectivity, for on-the-go internet, which doesn’t lock you to a Wi-Fi connection. Apart from this, the Mi Pad 4 supports Bluetooth 5.0 and comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.

The Mi Pad 3 is powered by a MediaTek MT8176 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s only one variant, and it does not support LTE connectivity, which means that you are dependent on Wi-Fi to keep the Mi Pad 3 connected. The camera setup is similar to its successor, with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.
