Will the next two films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel – have hidden clues that will lead us on to Avengers 4? Now, MCU fans have discussed and speculated about this till they can speculate no more. We know that both the films are set before the events of Infinity War but fans are sure that they will tie up thematically with the events. And Marvel, it seems, is also doing its bit to push this theory.

The new Ant-Man and the Wasp teaser, which dropped during the World Cup match between Mexico and Germany, starts with footage from Avenger: Infinity War. Out of the 30-second teaser, Infinity War gets full 10 seconds.

“Everything you know, everything you’ve experienced, has all led to this,” says the narrator as events from the film unfold. We then cut to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) cribbing about the size of his desk. He is seen asking Luis (Michael Pena) why his desk is so small. The Infinity War footage seems like a gag and we will have to wait till July to see how the two tie up. As we have realised after Infinity War, even innocuous references finally have a meaning.

There has been an earlier Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer in which some of the Marvel superheroes joked about where the two were during Thanos’ invasion of Earth.

Avengers 4 has been touted as a ‘significant conclusion’ to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Disney chief Bob Iger recently said that he hopes for the series to continue with new characters. Ant-Man and the Wasp are due out on July 13 in India.
