Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R gets a MEGA price drop: Here’s why

Kawasaki India has just given the ZX-10R and the ZX-10RR massive price drops. The 2018 Kawasaki ZX-10R now costs Rs. 12.8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, down from Rs. 18.8 lakhs and the Kawasaki ZX-10RR has now priced at Rs. 16.1 lakhs, down from Rs. 21.9 lakhs.

The reason for these large price cuts is local assembly. Yes, India Kawasaki Motor has begun assembling both litre-class superbikes at Chakan, Pune.

This has reduced the import duty on both motorcycles, and Kawasaki has directly passed on the benefits to customers. Bookings for both motorcycles have begun and deliveries will begin soon. Kawasaki has said that prices of the bikes are introductory and are subject to an upward revision from August 2018.

Both motorcycles use a 997cc, four-stroke-4 cylinder petrol engine. The inline-4 engine is liquid cooled and fuel injected. It features twin overhead camshafts driving four valves on each cylinder. On the ZX-10R, this motor produces 197 Bhp of peak power at 13,000 rpm and 113.5 Nm of peak torque at 11,500 rpm. With the RAM-AIR system in operation, power output gets an additional 10 horses, going up to 207 Bhp. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard.

Braking is handled by twin disc brakes up front while the rear wheel gets a single disc brake. ABS is standard, and so are an array of safety systems such as traction control, ride modes and launch control.
